Made in the USA, ARK's Brick Stick™ Textured Chew Necklace is an oral motor chew tool disguised as a fun piece of jewellery - it's a perfect travel companion for children who need to chew!

It is rectangular in shape with large bumps on one side and smaller bumps on the other - this provides varied tactile input. This type of chewelry can be used as an oral fidget toy or as a tool to help calm, soothe and self-regulate a child's thoughts during times of stress. It is a safe alternative to biting fingernails, knuckles and chewing shirts, pencils and pens. It can help to improve focus during homework and classroom tasks. It is particularly favoured by children with Autism, Asperger’s, ADHD or those who need a high level of sensory input.

Technical Information

Each Brick Stick™ measures 2 1/2 inches long (6.5cm), 5/8" (1.5cm) wide and 1/2" (1.3cm) thick. The long length of the chewing area allows it to reach to the back molar teeth where most of the chewing takes place. The breakaway cord is 36 inches (91cm) long but can be shortened by scooting the thread out of the clasp, retying the knot at a shorter length, and then trimming the excess thread. The pendant is available in three colour-coded toughness levels.

A note about choosing the correct colour for your child

Red, Magenta, Dark Blue, Yellow, Translucent Pink or Translucent Green - Standard - This is the softest level, recommended for mild chewers (those who do not generally chew through anything). It is also suitable for individuals with low oral tone, or those with limited jaw strength

Lime Green, Teal, Hot Pink, Black or Translucent Blue - Medium XT - This is the middle level, which is called XT ("Xtra Tough"). It's firmer, but still fairly chewy, recommended for moderate chewers

Royal Blue, Forest Green, Orange, Lavender or Translucent Red - Very Firm XXT - This is the toughest level, which is called XXT ("Xtra Xtra Tough"). It still has some “chewability” to it, but it’s fairly rigid/pretty firm. No chew tool is indestructible, but this is usually the longest lasting level for avid chewers.

Note - This product is not a toy. The clasp and cord are not intended for chewing. Although these chew tools are sturdy and durable, no chew tool is indestructible. Wear and tear may be expected given the nature of the intended use. While for some people a chew tool will last forever, for others with heavy/aggressive oral needs, they may go through it very quickly. This product contains small parts that may pose a choking hazard - recommended for ages 5 years and upwards. Please supervise at all times, regularly inspect the chew, and replace if necessary if the item starts to show signs of wear and tear.
